I am a PS user who is being swayed to XBOX if this is true: Dedicated servers for online gaming.
Can anyone point me to where there is more information on this (if there is any to be had)?
No dedicated servers.
They are increasing the number of servers that handle xbox live.
It's down to game devs to provide dedi servers
yeah... but it is more of a console question, not specific to ghosts..
But it does seem that the servers are not what I was expecting/hoping
The servers they were referring to were mostly for Cloud-type services if I'm not mistaken. As said above, it's not the console (or the console's company) but the developers that support their games.
according to wired xbox games will have dedicated servers. sad that ms had to do this because publishers and dev's like activision are to cheap to support their own games. dedicated servers are not enough to save this glorified cable box.
All your downloaded and installed games and achievements are synced to the cloud and can be accessed and played without interruption on any Xbox One you sign in to; stable, dedicated servers for every multiplayer game rather than the notoriously fragile practice of hosting matches on one participant’s console; even multiplayer matches that can grow to 64, even 128 participants, rather than the usual limit of 16 or 32.
In my opinion the Xbox reveal has confused the issue, as gdexter mentioned the servers are designed to handle Xbox live,
Dedicated servers for Call of Duty is a completely different issue.
Stick with Playstation! you know it makes sense
Thanks.. and thanks all
It really doesn't. PS4 had so many unanswered questions to this day. Microsoft just hasn't had any good answers because the console and games are still in developement. In 4 months that is when things will really get set in stone and then we can start making the choice of consoles.
