LMG's are brilliant if used correctly. I play headquarters alot and as long as they are used to hold a point and you are not charging in they are deadly.
Used in conjuntion with Quick draw handle and FMJs they can shoot through any surface.
I never used an LMG in MW3 and only tried it after watching a dude I work with to 47/6 and 46/4 with the LSAT in BOPS2. He asked that I try the LSAT for five games and promised he'd never bug me about using it again. After the third game, I was hooked and haven't stopped using it since. I've never had so many rapid kills or been able to mow down the entire enemy team with one clip before. By cutting short the reload animation, I've been able to shave about 1.5 seconds of the 7.5 second reload time and that has made a big difference for me too. I'll trade a 100-round clip for a six second reload all day long. In fact, the slow reload has helped me take a tiny break from the hectic game to regroup mentally.
Also... loves me some QBB too! With Extended Mags giving me 100 rounds with the highest Fire Rate and Damage in the class - this is my go-to on the smaller maps.
The KISS Army-
Ahh I miss the days of MW2 with LMG and stopping power. 2 hit kill at any distance on some of the models. That was the height of LMGs as far as I am concerned. Ever since then it has been downhill for LMGs. They are still useable but they really force you to play a defensive style. You get called a camping noob a lot. But whatever. It is great for upping your KDR. My KDR for LMGs is only exceeded by sniper rifles.

Same, and that's probably only because I typically have a SMG or handgun out instead of a sniper rifle when I'm moving around. Also, I've got to say that, after getting Max Prestige/Gold on the QBB, it seems like the LSAT is even better.
Thinking that, at least for me, preference is now:
LSAT (EOTech & Quickdraw)
QBB (EOTech & Quickdraw)
Mk48 (Variable Zoom & Quickdraw)
The Mk48 isn't as good as the rest up close in my opinion (aside from the HAMR, which I have yet to really use much), but, it's seriously an absolute beast at long range. Not too bad for using in an anti-scorestreak kit, too, I should add.
Your grammer has a higher k/d than most LMGs..
There's a lot of different ways to make LMGs work ... but in BO2, the attachment that seems to turn them into veritable death machines is FMJ. Not only can you walk-bang to hell and back, but FMJ on an LMG will slaughter almost all the equipment and scorestreaks the opposing team has to offer. I am still awed at how fast you can bring down an Escort Drone, Dragonfire, Stealth Chopper, VTOL, or AGR with an LMG and FMJ.
Seconds. Precious few seconds and they are GONE.
