W/L doesn't matter in public games so people just need to get over having to take a loss. Its not a big deal. I saw how no join in progress worked in the Gears series, and it sucked. CoD has always had this system and there is nothing wrong with it.
No, because then nobody would ever join games in progress, since almost every open spot is on a team that's losing.
Nope, no freebie games where the player can join and not care what the results are. You join the match, you try and take what ever the results are, no matter what. The moment you join you are committed to play the match and should not get a freebie loss that does not count.
This post is almost about as bad as the one who wanted losses removed from league after a disconnect from a susposed DOS attack against them. NO freebie games, no joining and not caring or trying. You join, you play. You dont and get kicked you deserve the loss for you hindered the team you were on wasting a spot that someone else may have used that would have actually tried and played and had fun regardless if it ended in a loss or not.
Not everyone cares about winning every single match. So because you want to protect your w/l stat, you basically put that team at a disadvantage. So you earn that loss by doing that alone.
What I think is there are a hundred other threads you could have posted to instead of making one.
Stats in Cod can be manipulated so many ways (direct and indirect). To know the ability of a player you really have to play with them. Therefore, I don't take to much notice of stats apart from my own benchmarking purposes.
However here is my idea to make the W/L stat a bit more meaningful, and to stop complainers / those who JIP then AFK or leave ( babies ) : A win or loss will only be attributed if you have completed the entirety of a match. However, if you leave - you get a loss.
Thus, those who JIP can jump into the game and treat it as a warm up. Also, will help out the teammates who were left in the lurch by the leavers. KISS
So many thoughts on this subject but here goes.
Everybody joins late out of control matches and gets the loss. So for all of the concern about your WL, the reality is that the effect of taking a loss for a late join is distributed to the whole community and as such supresses the whole communities WL equally unless you are one of those people that lobby hop several times until you find a winnable match. In that case you are responsible for further supressing your own WL and you are responsible for causing a lag spike in every lobby that you spectated without providing any benefit to the players already in that lobby. So quite frankly you deserve the loss added to your record for being too self absorbed to lend a hand.
I'd be fine with it if none of your stats counted for games joined late. No win, no loss, no kd, nothing. Then maybe you wouldn't have so many people sitting on the sidelines. I know a lot of people just observe the match waiting to be kicked but really all you are doing is tying up a slot on the team and preventing some other player that would be willing to join the match from entering the lobby. Effectively you are handicapping a team that is already struggling.
Good point made about how they are actually hindering the team by not spawning in. So in truth they actually deserve the loss even more at that point for that sort of selfish playing.
When ever I play, which lately is not much, been playing Defiance by Trion instead. If I get a JIP match I play it and take what ever comes from it, a loss a win, kills or deaths. For in the end none of those stats really mean anything outside of the game itself.
So, what do I think?

You are either part of the problem or part of the solution. Get in the match, do the best you can, accept your loss, go back to the lobby on even footing.
No, you should NOT be rewarded for sitting there.
Also, by your logic... if you get put on the winning team by a stroke of luck.... you shouldn't get the win, right?
