Drew, I play almost IDENTICAL to what you describe as the way you play. I ONLY play HC and TDM is what I play 99% of the time. I have used AR's throughout my COD career as well, starting in COD1. I have used SMG's here and there a few times in other games and never really got into using them. MW2 I played around with the P-90 on MW2, the AK74u in BO1, and never really touched them in MW3. That being said, the AR's were pretty easy to manage in BO2 and not too difficult to get the camo's and challenges for. I then decided what the heck, I'll try the SMG's.

Well just as you described, they are VERY inconsistent and can cause great amounts of frustration. I am working on the Vector (my favorite SMG) and it really is amazing how I can kill a player with 1-2 shots from 100 feet away, and then another guy will appear and it takes 4-5 hitmarkers to kills them. I have noticed that EVERY SMG that I use is like this. I did the PDW, MSMC, MP7, and Skorpion and ALL of them were the same way. What is strange about it is that it would do this in the same match without host changing or anything. One kill 1-2 bullets, next kill same distance, 3-4 bullets/hitmarkers. I can't tell you how many times I have died due to getting 3+ hitmarkers and reloading on instinct to have the guy survive and kill me.

Anyway, as many have posted I have found that HCKC is the place to play to level these things up. Also I think that I have found the PERFECT class for this and it helped me get the few gold that I do have.

SMG

laser sight/long barrel

FHJ-18

lightweight

scavenger

extreme conditioning/engineer (perk 3 greed)

I have literally flew through the ones I did with this setup. I can't believe how accurate the SMG's are without aiming with the laser sight. You can literally point and shoot from about 100 feet and be accurate and get kills. I usually point upper chest and this leads to a LOT of headshots.

I am glad to hear I am not alone in this lol.

So right about the inconsistency. There are times when I know its my aim being off, but I will take two pretty much identical shots: one will get the kill immediately, the other will get multiple hit markers.

I played some HCKC today with my ChiCom and got a lot of headshots and kills, really helped me move it along.

I will have to try those perk setups. I am kind of stuck on using Blind Eye and Dexterity/Engineer. Wondering if I need to branch out more, but I just hate running from kill streaks.

I wouldnt give up dexterity for extreme conditioning. I used extreme conditioning quite a bit, and have found it to be useless really. It just gives you a longer sprint, but not really enough to make a difference. I get why people want it buffed, but I also get why it won't be buffed. Lightweight/dexterity is far more beneficial imo.  The chicom sucks, red dot/quickdraw lightweight/dex is what I used. That gun needs to be up and ready as fast as possible.

Agree on this one. I don't sprint enough for Extreme Conditioning to do me any good.

The ONLY time I use Extreme Conditioning is in HCKC. 99% of the engagements are close range, and picking up tags is a MUST. Also you will get into those lobbies where the enemy team isn't using it and it will give you a HUGE advantage. I myself am more of a tacical player, BUT when it comes to KC the faster you move the better. I usually get anywhere between 18-25 kills in HCKC, but ALWAYS have at least as many confirms as kills. I also get all the tags I see from my teammates that like to shoot from cover 1000000 feet away and not pick up tags. I am usually in the top 2-3 in the lobby due to the amount of tags I pick up. Mid-level streaks are EASY to obtain like this too. I usually run Sentry Gun, Stealth Chopper, and Orbital VSAT in KC. In TDM I use Hunter Killer, Sentry Gun, and Stealth Chopper/VSAT depending on my team.

This is why I use the FHJ-18. I can usually knock whatever it is out of the sky within the first few seconds of it being there. Perk 3 greed is your friend. I LOVE engineer, but in KC I LOVE to be able to sprint more. I have the worst luck of starting a sprint and having it run out right in the middle of an open area. EC helps me here.

I have that on every class as well. Maybe I need to cut my Blind Eye umbilical cord LOL

I see why you use Extreme Conditioning, I just don't know if it fits my play style. I don't run all that much, so I just worry it would be wasted on me. One of the things I love about this game is that the perks really do meet a player's needs. If you want that ability, you will use it.

I may try it just for S&Gs and if I do I will let you know how it goes.

CHICOM = COMPLETE.

Hardest part for me was the Bloodthirsty's. For some reason I just couldn't string them together with that gun. Stayed up so late tonight trying to get this done and gave myself one last match to do it when I got to 9/10 (Stayed at 9 for what seemed like forever, even though I am sure it was only really a few matches). Had an amazing game on Cargo and got the last one on a 10 kill streak. Good stuff.

Thanks all for the tip on the Cherry Blossom/Art of War Camos. Ran them together and though it was a grind it was better than having to go back and do them again.

Just started using the Chicom again myself (used it the first couple of prestiges a little and then stopped.)  Have the Skorpion, MSMC and Vector all gold, Peacekeeper and MP7 are nearing (Peacekeeper is closer, haha) and thought to myself 'that Chicom is going to stand in the way of the diamond camos.'

All I can say is....ugh.  You're a better man than me, haha.  I'll get there, I know I will, but when I get frustrated in game because I am getting beat using the Chicom I switch over to one of my go to guns....usually the Skorpion...

Thanks for the encouragement! I am moving on now to the Vector K10. Have used it a bit but never seriously so it will be interesting. As you finished it, any tips?
