This was originally posted to Reddit, if you have any questions please head over to the Reddit Thread, posting here so people can see the information.
Please remember officially i have the game before the official launch, there may be changes/updates/extra content when midnight rolls around in my timezone, i will be staying up to check any/all updates/changes that roll through after midnight, and i will update this guide as things progress over the next couple of days also.
As promised a full comprehensive guide to offline play with Black Ops 4, This post will most likely evolve and change over the next few days as things align, when this post goes up, i will start making a recording of menus/offline features and will post the links to said video(s) IN THIS POST not in the comments.
I know many of you will be firing questions at me very quickly, i will endeavor to answer you, however my goal is to get all this offline information contained in one easy to read post with no confusion and comment reading. So my priority is to get info on this post first, then reply to comments/messages. Please do be patient whilst i am doing this as it takes time to write up then record/render videos.
With regards to video content, my focus will be MENUS, Settings/custom game mode settings, no one ever covers this stuff in detail, actual gameplay isn't a priority for me, as there will be a million people doing that soon, my priority is ensuring offline gamers have CORRECT and IN DEPTH information as to what is available to them as communication from developers (like previous years) has been very lackluster with regards to offline support.
So it is very clear, my definition of OFFLINE means disconnected from the internet, not to be confused with local, many games let you play 'local' but are still running ONLINE in the background.
So to clarify so there is no confusion at all, all testing of these modes was done in this exact order:
Call of Duty Black Ops 4 was installed and updated to Version 1.02
The PS4 Console was put OFFLINE fully (no internet at all) (no Ethernet cables, no WiFi, PS4 has 'connect to internet' set to off)
Call of Duty Black Ops 4 was booted up OFFLINE (no internet at all)
All tests done on PS4 Pro Console, Black Ops 4 physical disc version (standard Edition) Game has been updated to version 1.02, i tested both before and after applying the small in-game 'hotfixes' works offline either way, i booted the game the first time OFFLINE, HDD space currently is:
Lets be very clear here to avoid confusion, YES i can confirm, you can play the game fully offline, My PS4 console is fully disconnected from any/all internet, i have booted the game up OFFLINE so no communication to a server at any point during boot of game, game runs offline fine, i have rebooted the PS4 Console three times to check, works every time.
Please note however a Mandatory update is required to run the game offline first (even a physical disc version) you will need to update your game to version 1.02 to play OFFLINE
YES, Vanilla multiplayer and Zombies only
Can you play Vanilla multiplayer/Blackout/Zombies what modes are available offline?
Currently as of time of post, you can play Vanilla Multiplayer and Zombies offline, you can't play Blackout offline at all
Currently at time of post, it looks like the missions are 'locked' down and not available offline, i am hoping this will be a case of they unlock tonight at midnight when both physical and digital editions have all launched, i will update this section as soon as i have more info.
At this stage, sadly i can confirm the specialist missions are AVAILABLE but ONLINE ONLY, i am hoping an update might roll out and change this tonight...but don't hold your breath people.
Currently at time of post, you can play:
1 -2 player for Vanilla multiplayer (yes only 2 player)
1- 4 player for Zombies
in the options menu, there is an option to choose vertical or horizontal split screen
2 player split screen in vanilla multiplayer in horizontal (player screen on top and bottom), IT DOES have black bars to the left and right
2 player split screen in vanilla multiplayer in vertical ( players screen left and right ), IT DOES have black bars on the top and bottom of the screen
2 player split screen in Zombies - exactly the same as how vanilla multiplayer is above, both vertical and horizontal options available
3 player split screen in Zombies, Player 1 and 2 right at top of screen (goes right to edges) player 3 is below centered between player 1 and 2, with black bars on left and right, every player has the same size screen
4 player split screen in Zombies, ENTIRE SCREEN IS FULL, each player gets a quarter
Yes, basically from what i can see local is essentially LAN by default, if you add more than 2 controllers ( 3 or 4 player) then you will get a message stating.
Warning:
You will not be able to play networked games with 3 or more controllers
so 2 players per console in LAN for both vanilla multiplayer and zombies
Currently at time of post, Bots are in the game, you can have a maximum of 12 players in each game mode.
This means if you are playing solo 1 player you can add 11 bots into any game mode, except for Heist (which sadly does not support bots)
YOU CAN'T make unbalanced teams sadly, so have You and a friend vs 4 bots on the other team.
you can only add a bot or remove a bot, you do not get to choose which side the bots are on it automatically balances the teams.
They feel pretty good, to me the don't seem as clunky as Black Ops 3 bots, I'm only playing on recruit, will do more testing and update this post once i have had more game time.
Currently at time....sadly there is no option for load out restrictions,you can turn off create a class, but you only get given the default classes the game sets, you CAN NOT change the default classes or modify asymmetrical teams etc sadly.
You an also set create a class to be between pick 3 - pick 17, i haven't had a chance to 'check' if it actually forces bots to do this as its quite difficult to see of course, will update if i find more info.
No, sadly i was hoping for an offline progression system (similar to MW2 and MW3) but it's not in, All the guns/gear/scorestreaks etc are unlocked from the start in offline splitscreen and offline LAN (just like Ghosts/Advanced Warfare/Black Ops 3/Infinite Warfare/WWII had)
Create a class has all guns, perks, equipment unlocked,
You have 6 custom classes per player to customize.
As of time of this post there is NO customization, no camos for guns, no custom scopes, no custom outfits/gear for the specialists sadly.

From what i can see so far, no you can not save custom game modes OFFLINE....grr

When playing splitscreen - NO
NO, resume or quit is the only option at this stage.
It doesn't look like it, having a quick look, everything seems to be unlocked. will update if i find more information.
Again like Vanilla multiplayer, there is a lot of options i will cover this in the video, will update this part afterwards though.
You just add or remove bots just like vanilla multiplayer, as expected you can have up to 4 players maximum.
So if you are playing 3 players split screen, you can add 1 bot. etc etc
If there is, i haven't found it yet, but i'm not digging for it either, will update as information is discovered by either myself or other users of Black Ops 4
