3rd Person Perspective - Only on Battle Royale mode?

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 General Discussion Forum

Hi,I'm going to buy bo4 soon for the mostly br mode. I know COD community mostly hates the 3rd person gunplay, but there is also people who likes this perspective like me, I know COD games are one of the best FPS games in history,  but whats wrong with the adding only as an option to it? I'm asking only for Battle Royale mode. Most popular battle royales already have this option.  I would definitely insta buy every cod if they had it.

I think as a whole...the COMMUNITY doesn't really like 3rd person.

It was in MW2 or MW3 for a few game modes and it got played a little bit...but no where near enough to warrant devoting time to fleshing it out. I don't think COD really fits the 3rd person style. I know BR games like Fortnite and PUBG are 3rd person and that works for them it's always been that way. But just like they've been 3rd Person the whole time...COD has been an FPS at it's core and player's aren't keen on the camera peaking around corners or walls and things of that nature. 3arc I don't believe have ever given 3rd Person a shot and I truthfully wouldn't be shocked to see them dump BR in the next year or two when the trend dies or people get completely sick of it. (which tends to happen)

There aren't a lot of people playing. If you put in more modes, you're splitting up the playerbase even further, which will increase lobby wait times and increase lag. I live in the Northeastern US, and I was killed by a guy named Califinest last night. California is about 3000 miles away from me. It was in a solos too, so there's no excuse for that. This is why I'm opposed to them adding a HC mode in Blackout (which they've already said they're going to do).

In addition to that, being able to 3rd person over or around a wall is kinda cheap in a BR game (or any multiplayer game for that matter). It essentially removes 90% of the skill from the game and turns it into a peeking simulator. Fortnite is the exception to the rule, but I don't know how they would make Fortnite into a FPS game with the building mechanics. Even still, corner peeking is still an issue, especially with shotguns early on.

Idk, 3rd person is just a mode from earlier console generations that has persisted into the current era, mostly via PvE games. Imo it's a stupid thing to have in a multiplayer game.

I take names with a grain of salt to an extent.

I too live in the Northeast and I'm not entirely convinced that the game doesn't do a pretty solid job of matching me with north eastern players.
I see plenty of Boston related names/NY related Names and clan tags (area codes)

The only time I think something is up is when I see a ton of PR clan tags (which again could very well be NY located) but those players have always seemingly had connection issues and lagged in matches from as far back as I can remember and the connection has never been on my end I've always hosted lobbies very very well and lack any lag issues so it makes me think they very well might be from Puerto Rico half the time.
I also experience issues when I see PNOY Clan tags which I want to say is Filipino related but I could be wrong.

I also still connect quite often with Pittsburgh related names (and idk if that's because my console somehow has some sort of geocache of being purchased there) but I don't think 600 Miles is a reasonable connection to look for.

I usually just associated most "cali" related names to someone just being a fan of cali weed or something along those lines because it happens so infrequently, but the times I usually saw them was parties which is a crap shoot.
My friends list is all over the place in terms of locations when I used to have parties.

Thanks for the answers.I have been playing Apex Legends for a  while. Its fine but when i saw the cheater videos on YouTube  i left the game for now. I never played Fortnite because of childish graphics, mostly child community and building thing.I'm already 25 and i dont want to play with mostly below 20 people. Pubg is just slow and  unnecesseraly realistic for me.You guys talking about connection issues, aren't you recommend the game? If so I'm not going to buy it.

It seems nobody knows what's causing the issue with connection..

I'm totally fine as is most of the entire cod community.. you have to understand people vent anger/displeasure on places like these when things are going wrong which is why you've noticed people having connection problems..

If every person who didnt have such problems posted then you wouldn't see the other threads...

As someone who doesn't have any problems I do recommend it but obs i don't know what it will be like for you..

Betty hit the nail on the head.

We can't realistically tell you whether or not the game is worth it for you.

Using YT or forums as your "barometer" for liking a game isn't the best way to go about it.
I also don't think you should find people who just completely hate anything they may not get along with for one reason or another.

I've played COD since COD4 (2007?) Every cod has it's issues as we all know. I've only truly disliked a few of them (Advanced Warfare,WW2, World at War,Ghosts wasn't horrible but had too many issues to ignore)
----
Personally I enjoy BO4 a lot it's one of my more favorite CODs in a long time. I don't have any connections issues what so ever. While others seemingly have issues all the time.

Any issues that pop up outside of User Interface are incredibly difficult to "judge" as being true or not, generally speaking if you aren't doing well in a game (consistently or just randomly) most people are not willing to admit fault. So they'll say the connections are always horrible or just something with the game is incredibly flawed so it's crap which from my own personal perspective I haven't had any issues worth noting or making me quit the game.

I understand completely if you aren't doing well at whatever you're partaking in the chances are you won't enjoy it and find more issues with it while people who do well consistently will be able to ignore and of the foibles the game has.

I think the game is more then good enough to warrant a purchase IF you're willing to understand how the game plays. THe health is annoying but you get used to it, weapon damage is lackluster but you get used to it. Specialist can be annoying but again there are ways to deal with it so they are no longer annoying.
YT and Forums have a mob mentality so if someone there says "It sucks" then everyone agrees it's how negativity works for the most part and anyone who disagrees and enjoys a game is said to just be crap and probably works for the company.

*****, how did you not like W@W? It was kind of a culture shock right after CoD4, but it was still the *****. WW2 wasn't a great game, but I think in terms of multiplayer it was miles better than BO4. The only saving grace this game has for me is the Blackout mode.

It was a personal thing. My game glitched out and refused to remove the "new" marker on some items so that irritated me and in hindsight considering what the game turned into MP40 Drum Mag Jug spam I'm not overly sad I didn't enjoy it.
I love WW2 history in general.

Plus COD4 had a 2 year life cycle and I just really enjoyed COD4 as a whole so it wasn't a major lose and most of my friends stuck around on COD4 too.
---

As for WW2, I didn't "dislike" it, but I found the weapon balance to be incredibly lack luster. Especially early on where you basically only saw BAR/PPSH for a good amount of time in the beginning, then they nerfed the BAR "a bit" so the STG started to pop up a bit more. The peoples rifle was solid but that didn't show up until months down the line. I think BO4s weapon balance is a bit better but not by much but that's a 3arc issue in general especially with their infinity for rubbing it out to the Pro Crowd they only ever want to have 2-3 weapons be legit viable and then anything else tends to be a forced disadvantage upon yourself.
BO1 had decent weapon balance but the TOP guns were simply too strong so if I just wanted to not care I could pop on a Famas class and have the best SMG and Long Range weapon all at once and rattle of multiple blackbirds and Dogs in a match and my only deaths would be intentional to go back through streaks.

At least the MW Series...every weapon was strong. The community simply leaning on certain weapons made it seem otherwise but you could as a decent player or good player pretty much use any weapon in that game and take on the "strongest" weapons with ease.

But that's just my personal feelings.

I just want my G11 from BO1 back. It was like an M16 on steroids.
