Will shutting down World at War servers improve Bl...

We all know World at War is a massive train wreck in regards to the amount of hacking that goes on.  Will shutting down the WaW servers indefinitely allow the Black Ops II servers to work more efficiently?

Why shut them down when they can just buy more? With all the money they have they could have bought more servers if they wanted to. I say for as long as they're still selling WAW on the XBOX digital market, they have to keep those servers up.

True they can afford servers.  But what's the point of spending money on servers that nobody can play on?  Almost every game, there's a hacker in the lobby, even with all of the patches.

True. I tried playing WAW and there was a hacker. He made the floor slippery and I was like sliding all over the place. I left the lobby but his hack was infectious and I was still slipping around on the new lobby. It would have been good if only it wasn't hacker infested.

WAW does not run on dedicated servers. You the user act as a server and host for others to play off of. Thats why COD games can stay up for ever, and Battlefield games get shut down after a couple years.

Isn't the matchmaking part of the game handled by servers?

Correct.  It's not a true P2P system because there is host-client architecture.

This is true. However the model is closer to P2P than not in that the listen servers craft the lobbies, handle matchmaking, etc.and rely on edge devices for game session.

Becomes almost semantics for the purposes of these conversations because by becoming specific most immediately assume there are dedicated servers providing the game state...
