What happened to World at War style maps?

The novelty maps must end. Enough with the circus/golf course/zoo/skate park/ski resort/5 star hotel/ drive-in/ shopping mall etc, etc, etc maps!!!

Surely the devs can create maps in the same layout but in war-zones.

Re the size of maps, I've always maintained that there should be 3 sizes of maps in an even distribution in CoD games: small, medium AND large. That way ALL types of players are catered for.

The skate park is the worst map ever made.  Every time I see Grind come up I leave the lobby.  But back to the point I agree the maps should have more of a warzone setting.

I'll get slated for this but I really liked MW3's balance of map styles and sizes. The original maps weren't the best in CoD (Afterturd) but the DLC was amazing. Gulch, Parish, Overwatch, Oasis were all classics, even Boardwalk despite being a bit novelty had a war zone feel to it.

started a thread on this a while back couldn't agree more.  Treyarch maps are way to predictable.. just brush the dust off of asylum and I'm in

CoD4 had the best maps IMO, by a long way.

WaW probably second, although personally I loved the BlOps1 maps, especially the DLC maps.

One of the biggest disappointments of the last two games has been the maps.

CoD4 - Strike, Crossfire, Overgrown, Creek, Showdown, Crash, etc, etc, etc.
