As other have stated Scavenger is BY FAR the best perk in slot 2. I used my 2nd perm unlock token on it and it is on pretty much EVERY class that I use. It is so nice to be able to use 2x EMP grenades and bouncing betties and being able to resupply them. Also the SMAW is replenished which is good for getting the challenges done with it.
It really amazes me how many people waste 2 slots on the primary gunfighter perk to add a 3rd attachment to their weapon when in reality the EMP grenades are worth a LOT more that 1 point in my eyes. If you really think about it with the points you get from assists and destroying equipment it is the most valuable tool coupled with engineer that you can have. I literally started a match on Raid the other day on the rock side spawn and threw an EMP grenade over the zen garden and destroying 6 equipment (300 points) getting 3 assists (150 points), then ran towards the middle statue and saw the enemies went back to the room by the garage and threw another EMP grenade and got 4 more equipment (200 points) and 2 more assists (100 points) and by that time they spawned in our original and I got a double kill with a betty (200 points). I had not even fired my gun yet. I had 950 points and placed my sentry gun in the middle, got 2 more kills with my gun and 1-2 with the sentry gun and had my stealth chopper and escort drone in the air. Oh, and by the way this was in under 2 minutes in the match on HCTDM. I finished the match going 42-3 and we won 75-21.
I remember that game. I joined the losing team when the score was 20-70, as-fricking-usual.
A few of the Wildcards don't justify two points being spent. If you see people using Primary Gunfighter it could be because they're doing the no perk challenge. I used to split up the no perks and no attachments challenges but, since I got the QBB LSW gold, I decided it took too long and I have done them together since.
Not sure if it really is the best perk in the game, although like yourself I have spent a permanent unlock item on it (my first one), as Toughness reduces flinch by 75%. That's quite a lot but I guess you can go without it and choose engagements more carefully. Although Toughness isn't really needed in hardcore.
I disagree. Toughness makes a huge difference for me. I don't run with any tactical equipment very often. Or lethal for that matter.
Also I love using Primary Gunfighter with an assault rifle. Quickdraw, Adjustable stock, and either Fast Mags/Silencer/ Extended Mags.
Depends on what guns you enjoy using.
If, for example, you use the PDW, 870 or any LMG, it's not worth it. If you use things like the FAL, Executioner or scorpion, guns with low ammo counts and high fire rates, then yes.
I remember how In MW2 I ran it on nearly every class for a while.
You could sacrifice either Cold Blooded or Toughness in core. I sometimes do this on smaller maps when I'm using the MP7 and it's do-able.
It's invaluable when doing camo challenges so that you can use the gun you are working on and never run out of ammo.
It's a great perk and once I perm unlocked it I was very happy with my choice. No matter what equipment you use you will find it to be very useful to keep replenishing your supplies.
I also believe if you are going for big streaks (Relentless and above) this is almost vital. It's possible to achieve them without scavenger, but I would wager the vast majority of these streaks are attained with the help of scavenger.
