New upgrade using the golden shovel?

Black Ops II Wii-U

So last night, me and some friends that were relatively new to origins were playing on easy. I was going for the golden shovel, and around 10 is when i got it. Afterward i kept digging for stuff, and about 5 rounds later, i was going for another dig spot, and when i dug it up there was a weird sound and nothing happened. No zombie, grenades, weapon, powerup or anything, so i was like whatever and kept playing. A few minutes later my friend told me that i had another icon next to my golden shovel and sure enough, there was this golden symbol that kinda looked like a 4 slanted and it had a dot in the middle. I was unable to find a use or anything different with this. Does anyone else know what this does? thanks.

yes its a golden helmet. You can get stepped on by the giant robots and you will NOT go down, nor will you lose your perks.

is the golden shovel permanent? Or do you have to keep digging each game?

You only have it for that game. For example, if I get it in game 1 then quit/die, I wont have it in game 2.

Damn. Can't be making things to easy now can they. I suppose once done for the first time it would be quite easy to do again. Any rough idea on how many digs?

Ive heard anywhere from 30-50, I think its random. The dig spots respawn every round, so if you make sure you dig most of them each round you should get it fairly easily.
