Community Spotlight

Spotlight.png

The Community Spotlight showcases community members who are incredibly helpful within the Community Forums and Ambassador Chat. The award is an acknowledgement of the contributions made by a community member.

The Community Spotlight recipients are chosen by The Activision Community Team and the recipients of this honor are featured within the community and are given an awesome Care Package for their contributions.

This month, we have the pleasure of presenting a familiar community member as well as an outstanding ambassador.  Our Community Spotlight for this month goes out to Daleksgamertag.   Daleksgamertag has been a part of the community for a few years and part of the Ambassador Program since February 2015.   We noticed Daleksgamertag contributions within the community with assisting members as well as remaining positive while helping others.  Because of this, Daleksgamertag was one of the first community members selected for the Ambassador Program and has continued to be a positive force.

Q: Tell us about yourself and how you got into gaming.

A:  I am James, been called a Dalek for years which is a fictional villain in the television show Doctor Who.  Mostly, I can (poorly) imitate the voice but also because I have played Call of Duty for so long.  I feel I mastered it and people like me being on their team.  Since the release of the Xbox 360, I got it as a Christmas present and fell in love with Call of Duty.  I got into Call of Duty by first playing Call of Duty 2 and yes I do remember those rifles.  The snipers of this generation have no idea what they missed out on. I miss those older games but I still like the current games.  Every year, the developers with Activision's backing do their utmost to raise the bar and I love that.

Q:  What motivated you to begin helping within the community?

A:  Making gamers happy.  There is nothing worse than spending hard earned cash on a game and an issue develops, we all know that frustration.  But once it gets fixed, that amazing sigh of relief and knowing you can now enjoy the game you bought.  Knowing I can cause that effect and actually help real people in the real world and make them happier by the hundreds, makes me feel so blessed.  Nothing can beat that.

Q:  What do you enjoy the most about being an Activision Ambassador?

A:  I have made several points about what I enjoy and what brings me back time and time again. The single most important thing is that, if I ever feel down or I have no one to talk to that day there is a great community and a chance to make lots of new friends.  Most importantly, I can hop on and help a few people in Ambassador Chat which makes me feel better.  This program has helped me a lot in that regard and I cannot thank you enough.

Q:  What has kept you part of the program?

A:  The program helped give me purpose when I most needed it.  Whilst I was helping people, it made me feel very good about myself every time I made an Activision customer happy.  I felt a warm feeling which has never gotten old and I still enjoy to this day.  When I have free time, I still hop on so I can help out and do my part.

Image 8.JPG

Q:  Tell us about your favorite chat.

A:  My favorite chat was on the launch of BO3.  I helped a user not only figure out how to install the digital deluxe version of the game on Xbox One but also assisted the user adjust their Xbox privacy settings which is a common issue on Xbox One when playing online.  This chat took half an hour but once resolved, it was a great feeling and the customer was really thankful making me feel even better.

Q:  Which game would you say you are most knowledgeable?

A:  If you had asked this question a year ago, I would have said Call of Duty every time.  Now I have learned from other ambassadors and my own research as well as the advice of getting a whiteboard to write down notes for certain useful fixes for issues that may flare up for multiple games.  I would say I am knowledgeable in lots of Activision titles now but my biggest skills come with Call of Duty and harder issues with PC versions of Call of Duty is also a skill of mine I learned.

Q:  Out of all of the prizes you have won from Ambassador Contests, which is your favorite?

A:  I’ve won lots of prizes.  I was the first Ambassador to get a BO3 shirt and also won the massive prize of Guitar Hero Live.  I have to say I love the COD Elite prizes the most as I am a nostalgic person and these things rock!  From the keychain to the rare Elite poster I was sent several months back. The COD Elite Laptop bag I still use every day.  I go out and wear it with pride because Activision bags are actually rather high quality and have many uses.  So for pure nostalgia and because I used it almost every day, I will go with the Elite Bag.

Image 1.jpg Image 5.jpg Image 3.jpg

Q: What are some of your hobbies outside of the gaming community?

A:  I have several hobbies outside the gaming community including watching every movie I can.  I do podcasts on television shows usually featuring Game of Thrones and Doctor Who but also movies.  I enjoy running every morning to stay alert for the day ahead.  I donate and volunteer at food banks for those who need it and enjoy helping out.  I believe every soul we help makes this world better and I enjoy making others happy.

Q:  What advice would you give to a new Ambassador just starting out with chats?

A:  Patience.   You will learn the best way to deal with challenging chats.  Sometimes you may see a chat for a game you may not be familiar with.   Instead of letting that customer wait, take the chat and ask for help from the Ambassador Team or other Ambassadors.  The Ambassador Team can guide you through the chat or another ambassador who is an expert in that select issue will also help. Never feel like something is impossible.  We are here to help and that is what the spirit of the program is about.

Congratulations, Daleksgamertag.

Thank you for being a part of the community!

Community Spotlight - Tracy

Welcome to the Community Spotlight!

We are re-launching the Community Spotlight blog which showcases incredibly helpful users and their awesome contributions to the Activision Community! The individuals showcased in the Community Spotlight are chosen by the Activision Digital & Social Support team. These featured users will also receive a custom Community Support Badge!

This month, we’re talking to a familiar face from the forums, tracy!  Most of you probably recognize her for the awesome help she provides across the Community forums. Learn more about Tracy below and find out what makes her such a valued member of the Support Community!

style="height: 230px; width: 230px;" width="230"/>

Hi, my name is Tracy, same as my forum name, I like to keep things simple. I'm happily married, mother to 2 teenage girls and have a lovely granddaughter, with another on the way and my aim is to make them both future gamers.

Digital & Social: How long have you been playing Activision games?

Tracy: My first introduction to an Activision game was with Call of Duty 4, playing 4 person split screen with my family. My eldest daughter was the reason I caught the Multiplayer bug, introducing me to online play on Black Ops and I've been hooked ever since.

D&S: How long have you been participating in our community forums? Which is your favorite?

Tracy: I joined the forums in September 2011, partly due to Black Ops / MW3, with the introduction of Elite. I visited the forums for advice and not only did I find it helpful but I found some great posts showcasing a fun side to the community. I decided then that I wanted to be a part of this awesome community of gamers that not only helped people, but knew how to have fun. I enjoy all the forums, but if I had to pick a favourite it would be the Ghosts Extinction forum, as I love this addition to the game. I've made some great friends on this forum and am privileged to have also been able to game with some of them on the Xbox.

D&S: You’ve proven to be very helpful and knowledgeable. Would you say there’s one title you are most knowledgeable with?

Tracy: This is a tough choice, I seem to have provided a lot of help on both the Ghosts and Advanced Warfare forums. I do my best to keep up to date with all subjects and bookmark great articles from my peers. I've found the Knowledge Base a invaluable source of wisdom and if all else fails, as my bio says, Google is your friend.

D&S: What drives you to be so helpful in the communities?

Tracy: After first joining this community and being helped by others. I decided it would be great to do the same thing and help others myself. It was my way of repaying the kindness that had been shown to me and the feeling you get knowing you've helped is very satisfying.

D&S: Of the badges you’ve earned in the rewards program, which is your favorite? Why?

Tracy: I have two favourites, 1) Founder and 2) Infinite Wisdom 2.0. I chose the first one knowing it's fairly exclusive, as it was only available to so many people at a certain level on the forum and the second reminds me just how much I've managed to help out the community in the support section of the forums.

D&S: What do you enjoy most about being an Activision Ambassador?

Tracy: I receive great satisfaction knowing that I've been able to help others, whether it's getting them back into the game, directing them to the right people for the correct support if required or just answering their questions, even when it's sometimes not the answer they wanted to hear. I've also met some great people through this programme and am grateful to call them friends.

Thanks Tracy! We look forward to your future Community contributions!

Operation: Move Swag winners

Ambassadors!

Operation: Move Swag has been a huge success! Thanks for being so helpful over the last couple weeks; we talked to a lot of players. As always, to the victors go the spoils. As a reminder, the winning criteria were as follows:

  • 50 chats = Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare logo shirt
  • 100 chats = Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare ATLAS shirt
  • 150 chats = Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Sentinel shirt

So those rock stars who took 150+ chats to get all three shirts are:

  • Cmangrum

  • Iceman833

  • Amt81

Congrats on the new summer wardrobe!

The winners taking home the AW logo and ATLAS shirts are:

  • Urbanxb

  • Shamik07

And those taking home the AW logo shirt are:

  • DaleksGamertag

  • Tracy

We also put the top five Ambassadors for the period into our handy-dandy randomizer to see who would get the Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare hoodie. After we put the flames out and the smoke dissipated, we saw that the winner was:

  • Shamik07

Congratulations! You¹re going to look very stylish on the beach is this thing.

In the interest of keeping momentum going through the end of the month, I think we are going to give out another Call of Duty: Black Ops III shirt to someone for chats taken between today and the end of the month. The top five Ambassadors from today through 6/30/15 will be entered for a shot.

Below are some FAQs we have on the program.

Q: What is an Activision Ambassador?

A: An Activision Ambassador is a member of an elite group of gamers dedicated to making the Activision community a better place. They do this by helping gamers get back in the game with advice, tips and tricks. In doing so, you will unlock access to a number of exclusive perks including special badges and the opportunity to compete for special prizes!

Think you’ve got what it takes to become an Ambassador? Apply today!

Q: How long does it take to be approved as an Activision Ambassador?

A: Every Ambassador application undergoes a rigorous screening process which can take up to four weeks to complete.

Q: Do I have to live in a certain region to be an Ambassador?

A: No, you are welcome to apply regardless of the region you live in. However at this time, the Ambassador program is only offered in English.

Q: I speak another language, can I be an Ambassador?

A: If you speak a second language in addition to English, you are welcome to apply to the program, however at this time the Ambassador program is only officially supported in English.

Q: Do I have to be a certain age to be an Ambassador?

A: Yes. The Ambassador program is open to anyone over the age of 18. If you are between the ages of 13 and 18 you are welcome to apply provided a parent or guardian has given assent by allowing you to create an Activision account as outlined in our Terms of Use

Q: Can I reapply if I’m not approved to be an Ambassador?

A: Yes. There is no guaranteed acceptance to the Ambassador program. Sometimes we reject applicants through no fault of their own, but because we want to keep the number of Ambassadors fairly small. Applicants who are not accepted into the program may reapply after 90 days.

Q: Can I invite my friends to become Ambassadors?

A: Yes. At this time we do not have a friends and family recommendation program, but we’re always open to reviewing qualified new applicants.

Ambassador Duties

Q: I’ve been accepted into the Ambassador program, now what?

A: First, congratulations! You’ve become a member of an elite group of gamers entrusted with passing knowledge and expertise on to the rest of the Activision community. Other gamers now look to you to be a leader in chats, Activision community forums, and elsewhere.

Now that you’re part of the Ambassador program, here’s how you can contribute to the Activision community:

Chat with gamers: This is by far the most important thing you can do as an Ambassador. Simply log in on the Ambassador page with your Activision ID and click on the “Take Chats” button. Helping gamers with your knowledge and experience is lots of fun!

Chat with Activision: Our Skype chat (handle: Atviassist) is always running and available for Ambassadors. Stop by and say hello!

Talk with other Ambassadors: Our exclusive Ambassador forum is available right now to discuss any and all aspects of the Ambassador program.

Q: How do I initiate an Ambassador chat?

A: Starting an Ambassador chat is simple:

• Log in to your Ambassador account through the Ambassador Welcome Page

• Click on the big blue “Take Chats” button on the Ambassador dashboard.

• Double-click on any of the questions that interest you and begin chatting!

Q: Is there any training available that will help me be a better Ambassador?

A: Yes! Keep an eye out for Ambassador University, a collection of lessons and quizzes that will help you become a better Ambassador. Ambassador University will be opening up in the next few weeks, so keep an eye out!

Q: How do I communicate with Activision?

A: We have an exclusive forum just for Ambassadors. Put up your question and one of our community moderators will get back to you.

Q: What skills do I need to be effective as an Ambassador?

A: There are only two basic skills you need to be an Ambassador:

• A love of gaming: We know you’ve already got that. It’s passionate gamers like you that make up the heart of the Activision community.

• A desire to help other people have fun: By helping other gamers with their problems you’re helping them get past what’s bothering them and back to what’s important – more game time!

There are ways you can improve these skills – becoming a better listener, learning more about Activision games – and we’ll be helping you to improve these skills through the Ambassador University program, but those two primary skills can’t be taught. You’ve either got them or you don’t.

Q: I don’t have a lot of IT knowledge. Will that hurt me as an Ambassador?

A: No. The Activision Support Knowledge base and (eventually) Ambassador University are filled with various technical articles on commonly asked technical questions. As you get more familiar with frequently cited problems, you’ll learn through these articles how to respond to them.

Q: I’m an expert in one Activision game, but not another. Will this hurt me as an Ambassador?

A: No one expects any one Ambassador to be an expert on every Activision game, but broadening your gaming horizons can’t hurt you and you might just discover a new gaming passion to match your current one!

Q: Where do I get the proper information to help people in Ambassador chat?

A: Your key resource will be the Activision Support Site. That site contains most of the frequently asked questions you can expect to see. If you’re faced with a question that’s really new, try asking about it in the Ambassador forum, and we’ll try and find the answer for you.

Q: Can someone else take my place while I’m logged into my Ambassador account?

A: No. Ambassador privileges are extended to one person per account. If your friend would like to try being an Ambassador, ask them to apply. The process only takes a few minutes.

ACTIVISION AMBASSADOR BLACK OPS III SHIRT WINNERS

Heyo! Ambassadors!

Thanks for the big push the last 10 days of the month of May. You guys are really knocking it out of the park with all of the help you’ve been giving back to the Activision community.

As promised, the top 2 Ambassadors for the period are going to receive the first Black Ops III shirts we are giving away from the program. Those 2 amazing people are:

Iceman833

DaleksGamertag

Congrats on being the first kids on your block representing the Activision Ambassadors and BOIII. Try not to let it go to your head.

On another note, I’ve moved to a new office in our building, which is cool. The office is smaller than my last office, which is not cool. What does that mean for you? Potentially a whole bunch.  I can no longer store the copious amounts of swag I have with me, so we are going to make it a little easier for some of you to grab some of it.

Ambassadors will receive one Call of Duty Advance Warfare shirt for every 50 Ambassador chats they take from 6/4/2015 – 6/19/2015.

The breakdown is as follows:

50 chats = Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare logo shirt

100 chats = Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare ATLAS shirt

150 chats = Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Sentinel shirt

But wait, there’s more

Top 5 Ambassadors for the period will be entered for a chance to win a Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare Hoodie

If you would like to sign up for the Activision Ambassador program, visit Activision Ambassador

Happy hunting, kiddos!

Hey everybody,

We want to thank you all for participating in the Activision Rewards program up to this point. Whether you know it or not, as you have been participating in our community forums you have been earning points and making progress towards rewards, just by doing what you normally would as a part of our community. We are so happy to see all of the positive and proactive community members reaching out to those in need to help them get back in the game.

Over the last few months we have been working hard to make sure we are getting the biggest bang for our buck with what we are doing, both in our community forums and in the Activision Ambassador program (Become An Ambassador). While we’ve been working on the bigger picture, we want to make sure we are not losing focus on all of the awesome things people are doing in each individual space. In the interest of keeping things fresh, we are launching a fresh set of badges for you to unlock while you are doing your thing here.

We hope you guys enjoy the new badges, and that we can have some more big swings to share with you in the coming months.

Keep it real!

Above and Beyond #6 - ghamorra

Welcome to the sixth Above and Beyond Support Spotlight from Activision Rewards!

d20140130-001_CS_Forum_Badges_SUPPORT_SPOTLIGHT.jpg

Above and Beyond showcases Support Community members who are incredibly helpful in the Activision Support Forums, have earned a ton of Points and Badges, climbed the top of the Rewards Leaderboards, and more!

Above and Beyond Support Spotlight’s are chosen by the Activision Rewards team and are given an awesome Rewards Care Package from us including a custom Activision Rewards Badge (pictured above), Rewards Points, and more. Want to be the next Support Spotlight? Email us why you should be next: activisionrewards@activision.com.

This week, we’re talking to a familiar face from the Forums, ghamorra.  Most of you probably recognize him from his awesome help in the Support section. Learn more about ghamorra below and find out what makes him such a valued member of the Support Community!

Activision Rewards: Tell us a little about yourself and how you got into Call of Duty?

ghamorra: My name, believe it or not, isn’t actually Ghamorra, its John. I recently graduated from Ohio University and work in video production for a small company in hometown. I also volunteer on occasion at a nature center feeding and caring for some really cool and endangered animals. I’ve been gaming for as long as I can remember and have played just above everything there is on just about every console. The first FPS I played was Golden Eye on the Nintendo 64 and since then I’ve played just about every other FPS there is. I’m particularly fond of Call of Duty because it’s always been great deal of fun to play with friends locally and around the world.

For Question 1.jpg

AR: You have an extensive history in the Forums! How long have you been a part of the CoD Community?

GA: I first came to the forum a few years ago when the first Black Ops relevant. Once I started posting it was easy to make friends and I really liked talking tactics and strategies with other players. Over the years as my list of friends grew I’ve happily made this forum my favorite spot on the web. There’s a lot of great community members here and I consider myself quite lucky to play with these guys (and some gals).

AR: You’re very knowledgeable about Call of Duty. How would you recommend a newcomer build up that expert amount of knowledge?

GA: One thing I’m most known for in Call of Duty is embracing that which isn’t the most popular. Through lengthy discussions on the forum and playing with hundreds of different players I’ve learned the hard what my best playstyle is. It’s important for anyone who wants to be better player to go out there and not be afraid of failing. If you’re stuck as questions, if you want some help inquire, and most importantly have fun.

call-of-duty-black-ops-4807-hd-wallpapers.jpg

AR: Since the Activision Rewards program started, you've consistently been at the top of the Rewards Leaderboards having earned almost 30,000 Points. How do you do it?

GA: I post a lot and grind out my Points. I can’t say I’ve paid that much attention to Badges and Challenges. I really enjoy discussing and getting into some heated, but very productive, discussions. In college I grew thirst for getting into elenctic arguments and really breaking the game down. When you get into these discussions you can really rack up a lot of posts and Points.

AR: Out of the Rewards Badges you’ve earned, which is your favorite?

GA: I really like the addition of Badges on the forum. I think it’s brought a lot of member together and has really stressed the “community” aspect of the Forum. Stay Classy, Socialite, and Leader of the Pack all drive the community together by giving us reason to like, discuss, and befriend members of the Forum.

AR: Have you written any Guides, Walkthroughs, or FAQs for the Community before?

GA: One thing I have most certainly done is create a lot of guides and walkthroughs. I couldn’t possibly list them all here but my “Ghamorra’s Book of Tactics” series has done quite well and I’ve received a lot of positive feedback from them.

AR: What drives you to be so helpful in the Support Section?

GA: It can be really hard not to get sucked into the status quo of Call of Duty. Some players feel forced to play a certain way and it’s my goal to help show players that there’s a great many ways to play Call of Duty and if you’re having trouble finding a playstyle that fits you best my guides might be helpful in finding that right style of play.

     5. FAQ

1.Getting Started

I) Sign Up and Log In

The first thing we need to do is create a Call of Duty account. In the top right of your screen you should screen you should see something that looks like this:

01 Sign up.png

If you've been receiving the weekly stat e-mails from Call Of Duty then congratulations you already have an account so you can skip this part.

Click "Sign Up" or Click Here and you'll be greeted by a simple form that looks like this:

02 Reg form.png

Remember that to create a Call of Duty account, all fields must be filled in and you must accept the Terms of Service (ToS) and Privacy Policy. By checking the "I accept the ToS and Privacy Policy" you're confirming you've read and understood them, ignorance is not an excuse for rule breaking. Being contacted by Activision with news and content about Call of Duty and other Activision games is optional.

Most of the information it asks for is self explanatory. Community Name is the name you wished to be known by when you post in the forums, it's a bit like a Gamertag or PSN/Steam ID. Once your account is created you cannot change the name which you post under in the forums, so choose wisely.

Once you filled and checked the boxes click "Register Now" and an activation link will be sent to your e-mail address, you'll need to follow the link in order to activate your account.

Congratulations you're now a member of the official Call of Duty website and forums, now you've just got click Login In in the top right corner of the page or Click Here then enter your e-mail address and password.

II) Link Accounts and Editing Your Profile

Now you have your CoD accounts it's time to link it to some of your other accounts, you can can link your CoD account to the following accounts:

  • Xbox Live
  • Playstation Network
  • Steam
  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Youtube
  • Twitch

You'll need to link either Xbox Live, Playstation Network or Steam depending on which platform you play Call Of Duty on, this allows data to be transferred from the website to your platform account for things such as pre-order codes, Prestige/Hardened edition content codes and the Ghosts App.

Linking your Youtube account allows any clips you upload from Modern Warfare 3 or Black Ops 2 to be uploaded straight on to your channel.

Linking your account with Facebook, Twitter and Twitch makes it easier for you friends and followers from other sites to find you on here.

To link your accounts you'll need to head over to your CoD Account Profile, now that you're logged in you'll no longer see "Log In or Sign Up" in the top right corner, it will have been replaced with an exclamation mark in a circle and a Cog. It should look like this:

03 Cog.png

Click on the Cog and you'll have 2 options Profile and Log Out, click Profile or Click Here and you'll be taken to page that looks like this:

04 Account Link.png

Linking accounts is simple just click the green cross next to the account you want to link and you'll see a message box like this one:

05 Account Link MSG.png

Click Continue you'll be taken to the relevant site and asked to enter your log in details for it. Once you've entered you details thats it, your accounts are linked.

Whilst we're on this page there're some other things you can change like: Name, Address, E-mail address, Security questions and your Community name (this doesn't change your forum name).  If we head on over to the Preferences page from here you can change your e-mail address which receives the the Call of Duty and Activision newsletters, you can also opt in/out of a specific newsletter or unsubscribe from all communication.

06 Newletter.png

The next profile you have is Forum profile, this is what other users will see if they click on your name in the forums it looks a little like this:

07 Forum Profile.png

From here you can access a number of other forum features but i'll cover those later. For now we are going to look at the 3 options on the right hand side. We'll start with Change Avatar, each time you post on the forums your name and avatar is displayed next to your post, you'll notice mine is the R2D2. Once you click Change Avatar you'll be taken to a page where you have a choice of 226 avatars, most are related to Call of Duty but there are other more general avatars and some related to other Activision games.

Next we have Edit Profile and Privacy, this will allow you to edit different sections of your Forum profile and also allow you to change who view certain parts of your profile.First we have the Edit Profile part. Most of these options are self explanatory, the forum does not allow a signature to be added to post so there is no need to enter anything in this box. Tags can be used to make yourself easier to find and can be used in the Forum search bar.

08 Edit profile.png

The next part of this is the Privacy part, this allows you to restrict who can see certain parts of your profile. You have 4 options: Everyone, Registered Users, Connections and Yourself. You can then use "Preview Your Profile" to see how other users view your profile.

09 Edit Preferences.png

The final option we have here is Edit Preferences. This allows you to customise which notifications you receive e-mails about, discussion and comment view styles, language, locale, timezone and also edit which notifications appear in your stream.

10 Edit Notifications.png

III) Rules and Moderators

Just like when playing Call of Duty online the Forum also has its own set of rules/guidelines and moderators, you are expect to know and follow the rules when using these forums. Ignorance is not an excuse for rule breaking so familiarize yourself with them before posting.

Community Forum Etiquette and Guidelines

Guide: YouTube & Streaming Posts

Rewards Program Boosting

There's also a few sub-forums that specific rules/guidelines attached to them as well. Support, Clan Recruitment and Off Topic.

Whilst Activision has many accounts our current 3 forum moderators are OGHuxtable, SavageHam, and EmiliozGunz.

More information on moderator accounts can be found here: Forum Moderators

2. Content

I) Finding A Topic

There are 2 ways to find threads in forums, the first is the search bar. In the search bar you can search for keywords, people or tags. Once you start typing in this box a drop down menu will appear with some related answers, from here you can also choose "Search all forums" or "Search this forum".  If you have something you want to discuss use the search first, there may already be a thread on this topic and multiple threads on the same topic just adds clutter to the forums. 1 thread with 100 replies carries more weight then 100 threads with 1 reply.

Not sure what you want to discuss? Jump into a sub-forum.

14 Sub Forums.png

Red Box

Platform specific - Here you'll find other users that play on the same platform as you.

Green Box

General Discussion - A place to discuss Ghosts in general.

Yellow Box

Extinction - Need some advice or want to build a team? You'll find some of the top Extinction players in here.

Pink Box

Clans. There are 2 spaces within the clan sub-forum.

1) Clan Recruitment: Need a clan or already have one and are looking for new members? You'll find what you need in here

2) Clan Discussion: General clan discussion for future or past wars, tips on running a clan and any clan related questions.

Blue Box

Off Topic - Anything not Ghosts related goes in here, including future title discussion.

Orange Box

Support - Having a game related issue or have knowledge that could help some else out? Support is here for you, most questions will be answered by your fellow community, moderators can also open up support tickets from here if it requires Activision assistance.

If you're having an issue with your game support has a dedicated "Ask The Community" search bar which will find previously asked questions where you might find your answers. You can find a guide for it here: Ask A Question Tutorial

When asking a question in Support try to include as much information as possible in your post, useful things are: location, platform, hard-wired or wireless connection and any solutions you've already tried but didn't work.

15 Ask The Community.png

Have knowledge that could help other people? Get involved! Either have a scroll down the Recent Questions/Content sections or if you have knowledge of a specific area head into the Question Bank. There are 3 sections in the bank: Clan, DLC and Connection. Just select one and you'll be shown all the unanswered questions related to that subject.

16 Question Bank.png

II) Posting replies

17 Replying.png

When replying to thread you can either reply to the original post or you can reply to another users who has posted in the thread. The reply button is always in the bottom right corner of the post.

Red Box

Reply to original post.

Blue Box

Reply to specific post.

Green Box

If a thread has a lot of replies on the first page or goes over multiple pages there will be a "Reply to original post" button at the bottom of the page.

III) Creating Content

Can't find the topic you're looking or have an idea you want share? Then you're going to need to create a your own thread. We do this using the Actions on the right side of the page. Using the Actions in a specific sub-forum will create the topic in that space, using the Actions on the front page you'll need to set the space you want it posting. There are 2 types of threads you can create, the first is a Discussion, the second is an Idea. Discussions are general use and the main form of threads found on the forum. Ideas allow you find out what other users think about an idea you have with an Up/Down vote system included in the post.

18 Ideas Options.png

At the bottom of an Ideas post you have 4 options:

     1. In A Place - This will post your idea in a selected sub-forum.

     2. Hidden - Only you can view this post. If you mention someone in a hidden post they will still be notified of the mention and be able to view it.

     3. Specific People - This allows you to enter the usernames of forum members who you wish to view it.

     4. The Community - This will post the idea into the stream of anyone that follows you.

To choose where a thread is posted you need to click "Change" located in the Red Box a drop down box will appear and you can type the sub-forum you want into the box, when using this feature you need to type "Ghosts" first so it shows the Ghosts sub-forums i.e: Ghosts Off Topic.

Advanced Options - In the advanced options you can change who can edit your ideas post. By default any member of the forums can edit your ideas post if you post it into a space. If you don't want people changing your ideas post check the "Restrict Authors" box, from there you can either allow specific forum users to have editing rights or just yourself.

IV) Content Tips

Editing - After you have made a post or reply you may realise you missed something or made a mistake. Pressing the edit button at the bottom of your post allows you change, add or delete parts of your post without having to delete the whole thing and starting again. Editing a reply also gives you more post editing options then the initial reply box.

Marking as a Question - If have a question that you want/need an answer for you can mark your discussion as a question, this lets other users know that you're not looking for an opinion but a definitive answer. You have 15 minutes after you create a discussion after you create it.

Marking Correct Answers - If your discussion is marked as a question and you have found the answer you are looking for remember to mark that answer as correct. This way a user who has a the same question in the future can find your discussion and the answer they're looking for. If other users have supplied you with same or other useful information you can also their answers as helpful. You can mark 1 correct and 2 helpful answers per discussion.

V) Reporting Content

From time to time you may come across content that is either offensive, spam or breaks another forum rule/guideline. To report a discussion look for the the orange triangle that says "Report" in the Actions on the right hand side of the post. To report a reply click on "Report Abuse" in the bottom right of the specific post you want to report. Both of these open up a box in the middle of the screen where there is another drop down menu with a list of reasons and text box to add any other important information.

3. Forum Features

A lot of forums and social media sites have similar features, most of these features are pretty basic and self explanatory. Some of the features on the CoDHQ are less obvious and some can be difficult to find.

I) Basic Features

Like - See a post you like? Hit that like button, post appreciation is always welcome! Just look for the thumb at the bottom of a post.

Follow - You can follow people, sub-forums and threads. Once you've followed someone or something there activity will show up in your Connections Stream.

Bookmark - Don't have time to post? Bookmark a thread for later, you can access bookmarks from your profile. You can also add notes and tags to make them easier to find.

Share - The share button allows you to share threads with other users on the forum. A shared thread shows up in your Inbox.

Rating - Let others users know what you think of a thread by rating it with 1-5 stars located at the bottom of the original post. Highest rated threads show up on the front page.

Mention - Then mention feature allows you mention users, sub-forums or threads in your posts. There are 2 ways to mention things. Hit the "@ Mention" button in the bottom right of the text box or simple type @ and start typing.

Quote - You can quote the response you're replying to by clicking the speech bubble at the top of the text box, the quote will show up in a grey shaded box.

II) Advanced Features

The first 5 features can be accessed by clicking on !App on the bottom right of the text box or by simple typing "!" in the text box itself.

Forms - Forms is a Jive modulation that allows you to create a form template which can then be used in your posts.

Images - This feature will allow you to search Wikipedia for an image and then add it to your posts.

.

Lucidchart - Lucidchart is a Jive Modulation that allows you to create diagrams such as flowcharts and venn diagrams for use in your posts.

Props - Props is another way of liking content but they come with a picture and a custom message, any Props you receive are displayed in a cabinet.

Wikipedia  - This feature will allow you to search wikipedia directly from the forum and then insert the link to your posts.

Multiple Streams - You can create multiple streams in your Inbox by clicking on "+ New Stream" this can make following different groups of users easier.

Connection Groups - You can create multiple connection groups on the Connection tab by clicking "+ New Label" you can then assign a colour to each group.

4. Gamification

I) What Is It?

Gamification is the application of typical elements of game playing (e.g. point scoring, competition with others, rules of play) to other areas of activity, typically as an online marketing technique to encourage engagement with a product or service. On Activision's forums this is know as Activision Rewards.

II) Earning Points and Levelling Up

The forum like the game has it's own levelling and ranking system. Pretty much everything you do on the forums can earn you points, you can keep track of the recent points you have earned on your Reputation page, this can be accessed through your profile or by clicking the points next to your username and then selecting More. On the reputation page on the left side of the screen underneath Activity is Missions. On the Missions page you'll find a number of tiles, each tile is a separate mission and most missions have a number of levels. On the front of each tile you'll find:

  • Mission name and level
  • The Badge it unlocks
  • The Points you'll gain completing it
  • A brief description
  • Who recently completed the Mission
  • Progress bar

20 Tile Front.png

If you press the cog in the bottom right corner the tile will flip over and you'll find a little more information.

  • Mission name and level
  • A brief description
  • The Badge and Points you gain upon completion
  • In depth details on how to earn the badge including any restrictions.

21 Tile Back.png

At the time of writing this guide we are in Season 1 of Activision Rewards, an easy way to earn 165pts each day in Season 1 is as follows:

Whilst 165 Points a day may not seem like a lot it adds up to 1,155 Points a week or 4,950 Points in a 30-day month, add in the Bonus Points for completing the different mission levels and you're well on your way to leveling up. Some Mission are only available for a limited time during a Season, the Launch Control missions are a good example of this. There's normally a stickied thread in the support section announcing these so keep you eyes open for them.

III) Showing Off Your Badges and Using Your Points

Now you've completed Missions, unlocked Badges and earned points what can you do with them? Badges In your profile, in the Reputation tab you can select 3 badges to show off this is called "Me in 3". On the top bar you should see Points, Level and then up 10 badges, hold your cursor over the Badges and it will pop down to reveal all of the Badges you have earned, at the bottom of this are 3 slots where you can drag and drop your 3 selected Badges into. Other users will be able to see these Badges if they hover their cursor over your name in the forums and view your profile pop-up. If you want to change your "Me in 3" just click the X next to the Badge you no longer want to display and drop another one in it's place. The amount of Points shown on the profile pop-up is your current available store balance not your total earned points.

Here's mine:

Points

What do Points mean?....  PRIZES! (and Leaderboards)

Points can be exchanged in the Activision Reward Store for different rewards, each reward has a level and a cost, in-order you purchase the reward you must first get to the level requirement and then have enough points to exchange for it. Currently there are 3 available Rewards:

  • Got Stacks Badge - Lv 35 -  10,000 pts
  • Founder Badge - Lv 65 - 500 pts
  • Secret Group Access - Lv 50 - 20,000 pts

More reward will be added soon and you can find the reward store here: Reward Store

You find this in the drop down menu from your name on the forums.

We also have leaderboards that can be viewed here: Leaderboard

Search for "Leaderboards" in the search widget for quick access.

5. FAQ

Q) My headers are grey writing on the black background how to I turn them white?

A) In your profile preferences turn the High Contrast Colour Scheme off.

Q) Where can I view the props I've been given?

A) Your props shelf can be viewed here: http://community.callofduty.com/apps/props

Q) What are levels shown in your screenshots?

A) Those are the old forum levels when they only went up to 10, it took me a while to make this guide and things were changed during the making of it.

Q) What are Jive and Modulations?

A) Jive is the program that the forum runs on, Modulations are like apps or expansions that add new features and functions to the forum.

Q) How do I stop notifications from discussions I no longer want to take part in appearing in my Inbox?

A) Select the discussion in your Inbox, in the top right corner of the preview select "Hide new activity" and this will stop all new notifications unless you post in the thread again or are @ mentioned.

Q) I just made a post/reply, why does it say that it is being moderated?

A) The main cause of a post needing moderation is a link that needs to be authorized.

Q) I don't like my username, can I change it?

A) Once a username is created it cannot be changed.

Q) Why can't I create polls, blog posts or documents?

A) As forum users we can only create discussions and ideas. Polls were removed and only Activision can create blog posts and documents.

Above and Beyond #5 - TL_Bare_B_V2

Welcome to the fifth Above and Beyond Support Spotlight from Activision Rewards!

d20140130-001_CS_Forum_Badges_SUPPORT_SPOTLIGHT.jpg

Above and Beyond showcases Support Community members who are incredibly helpful in the Activision Support Forums, have earned a ton of Points and Badges, climbed the top of the Rewards Leaderboards, and more!

Above and Beyond Support Spotlight’s are chosen by the Activision Rewards team and are given an awesome Rewards Care Package from us including a custom Activision Rewards Badge (pictured above), Rewards Points, and more. Want to be the next Support Spotlight? Email us why you should be next: activisionrewards@activision.com.

This week, we’re talking to a familiar face from the Forums, TL_Bare_B_V2.  Most of you probably recognize him from his awesome help in the Support section. Learn more about TL_Bare_B_V2 below and find out what makes him such a valued member of the Support Community!

Activision Rewards: Tell us a little about yourself and how you got into Call of Duty?

TL_Bare_B_V2: Most people online know me as TL Bare B but my human name is Chris. In my spare time I play CoD on XBL and talk CoD on the HQ. In my not so spare time I help to run a paintball centre which is basically CoD for big kids that hurts a bit more. My introduction to Call of Duty came a week after I brought my Xbox 360 when I purchased CoD 3 to play with some friends.  After shooting and stabbing my way through the campaign I hopped in to MP where I'd usually run the Medic class and act as support for team mates up front. I've been hooked ever since and currently own a copy of every CoD game.

TLBare1.jpg

AR: You have an extensive history in the Forums! How long have you been a part of the CoD Community?

TL: I signed up for my first account on CharlieOscarDelta.com so I could play in the MW beta, that was 7 years ago! I didn't post much back then but as time passed I started posting more and more, during Black Ops I joined EU4M where I met some awesome people and had some incredible experiences.

AR: You’re very knowledgeable about Call of Duty. How would you recommend a newcomer build up that expert amount of knowledge?

TL: Read, Ask, Play. Read other peoples answers and guides. Don't be afraid to ask about something you don't know. Play around with the games, apps and forums to see what you can find out for yourself. There's always something new to learn.

call-of-duty-3-20060710042426267.jpg

AR: Since the Activision Rewards program started, you've consistently been at the top of the Rewards Leaderboards having earned almost 50,000 Points. How do you do it?

TL: Most of my points have come from answering questions in the support section but I’ve earned points in almost every sub-forum. Half of the battle is knowing how to earn them.

AR: Out of the Rewards Badges you’ve earned, which is your favorite?

TL: My favourite earned Badge would be Leader of the Pack (lv5) that’s more about the community finding what I have to say useful enough to want my posts in their stream. My favourite Badge overall would be Got Stacks as there's still only 3 people with it. Anyone that gets it is welcome to join us in the Millionaires Mansion!

GamificationIcons-FullSet_Got-Stacks_75x75.pngGamificationIcons-01cs5_LeaderOfThePack_5_75x75.png

AR: Have you written any Guides, Walkthroughs, or FAQs for the Community before?

TL: I've just posted my first guide. We used to have Forum Guide on the old boards but no-one has written one for a while so I wrote the Ghosts Edition for new members that are finding things a little confusing or older members want to learn something new.

AR: What drives you to be so helpful in the Support Section?

TL: 2 reasons:

1) At some point we were all new to CoD and the CoDHQ, there were others here answering my questions when I first joined the community and now I’m passing my knowledge on.

2) Whether we like to admit it or not as CoD players we all have a slightly competitive side. Offering leaderboards, levels, unlocks and exclusives are just something I couldn't resist. Support section is currently where most of the Points are on offer.

Above and Beyond #4 - OUHATEME

Welcome to the fourth Above and Beyond Support Spotlight from Activision Rewards!

d20140130-001_CS_Forum_Badges_SUPPORT_SPOTLIGHT.jpg

Above and Beyond showcases Support Community members who are incredibly helpful in the Activision Support Forums, have earned a ton of Points and Badges, climbed the top of the Rewards Leaderboards, and more!

Above and Beyond Support Spotlight’s are chosen by the Activision Rewards team and are given an awesome Rewards Care Package from us including a custom Activision Rewards Badge (pictured above), Rewards Points, and more. Want to be the next Support Spotlight? Email us why you should be next: activisionrewards@activision.com.

This week, we’re talking to a familiar face from the Forums, OUHATEME.  Most of you probably recognize him from his awesome help in the Support section. Learn more about OUHATEME below and find out what makes him such a valued member of the Support Community!

Activision Rewards: Tell us a little about yourself and how you got into Call of Duty?

OUHATEME: My name is Mike, though you all know me by OUHATEME on the Forums. My wife and I have 4 kids and 3 grand kids and everyone plays something when it comes to games. We have just about every console except a PS4 at the moment.

As far as CoD goes, my wife and I have played since the beginning with Call of Duty. We enjoyed playing local split screen against and with each other. Getting online though was something altogether different for us. In the past, we would jump on the Harley and go for rides hours on end. However, when our youngest was born, he had more conditions than I could name or pronounce so it was an easy decision to put family first and part of that is being home much more and making sure everyone was taken care of and having fun. Our first online experience with CoD came in BO1 we played the **** out of zombies and had a blast doing it.

OUH3.jpg

Shortly before MW3 came out we started into the multiplayer portion of online and from there we would go back and forth between the game modes. MW3 with founder status and the installation of clans was a nice fit. It gave us a taste of something and we wanted more so we carried over to BO2 with it. We loved that we were able to keep the same clan from CoD title to CoD title. I know I’m speaking in plural that is because we each have our own consoles and Internet connections and we play together, yep I am one of the lucky ones my wife plays and she is in my Clan too!

OUH1.jpg

AR: You have an extensive history in the Forums! How long have you been a part of the CoD Community?

OHM: I actually started coming to the forums in MW3 I mostly read and did not participate that much, when BO2 came out I began to get more involved in the Forums as that was our main way of figuring out how clan ops was working and it is where we shared what we had figured out worked and what didn't. Since it was a lot of us peers helping each other I found it a good atmosphere to share what we learned with each other as peers in the elite section of the forum for BO2. Two people I found very helpful for BO2 and Clan are Lifesong1 and mwfan55 both of whom helped me out with figuring out how Clans worked and with sharing information. When Ghosts is finished I will have a lot more names to add to the list as being helpful.

AR: You’re very knowledgeable about Call of Duty. How would you recommend a newcomer build up that expert amount of knowledge?

OHM:  Go to the Forums and watch and read for a bit. Pay attention when you see how others answer questions and if they use references in their threads. Some of those references are a gold mine for information. Don't stick to one section of the Forum either there is information in each section that can be so helpful from the general discussion which covers game play, weapons, map layouts. To the console specific forum which may let you know how to party up with friends or teammates better not to forget that the latest game updates and hot fixes are listed there as well. A lot of that information can be game changers.

I read in all of the forums and I have been branching out lately beyond the Clan and Support Forums. Be open minded in reading others opinions as they may help you redefine yours when they put things into a different perspective the same way you may sway someone else's. Bookmarking is a great tool when I see valuable information I usually bookmark it and will reference it when answering others questions.

call_of_duty_modern_warfare_3-wide.jpg

AR: Since the Activision Rewards program started, you've consistently been at the top of the Rewards Leaderboards having earned more than 60,000 Points. How do you do it?

OHM: A majority of my points has come from the clan discussion Forums with the support section coming in a close second. When answering a question remember that they are asking because they don't know the answer even if it was discussed six post up the screen. When it comes to Clan Wars not having information or having to wait for it can make someone anxious regardless of how simple someone else may think the question is to the person asking it can mean a lot. In this installment of CoD the Clan Discussion Forum has pretty much exploded in size and activity compared to what it was in past CoD titles.

I have begun to see some of the helpful people from the other forum begin to make appearances in the clan discussion side of it which is great. I know this section has not existed that long and it takes a feeling out process for some of those that have been pillars on the forums since the beginning. In the background there has been some friendly banter on who is taking what leader board from the daily, weekly, and monthly, can’t forget to mention the overall Leaderboard. Great competition and many are helped in the process nothing wrong with that. Still pushing for top spot, though.

AR: Out of the Rewards Badges you’ve earned, which is your favorite?

OHM: I’d have to say it is the Kudos Badge. I earned it by writing a tips on how to have and run a Clan.  Got some great feedback on that and actually got to help a few people put Clans together.

d20140130-001_CS_Forum_Badges_KUDOS.jpg

AR: You’ve been chosen for a Kudos Badge due to your helpful guide involving Clans. Why did you choose to write about them? Are you in a Clan yourself?

OHM: I wrote about Clans because I know how many questions I had when creating mine and how much I had to look for information and when it wasn't there just do it and figure it out for myself. I have been in my Clan since MW3 when I made it and since then I have made my mistakes and learned from them as well as done some good things as well. So I was trying to help those just coming into it leapfrog some of the mistakes many make when making a Clan and help them get on track to enjoying it as soon as possible. We have fun and we can be competitive at the same time.

When it comes to guides, walkthroughs, or FAQ’s I haven't written anything on the scale of the Clans article yet, I do however to write walkthroughs with when helping those with issues that I may have a solution to.

897E73BF-6820-4777-8B7A-CF0B1A97C4D7.png

AR: What Support topic do you find yourself the most knowledgeable in and why?

OHM: Clans I tend to do all the research for my clan so we can all enjoy it and if anyone ask why I can answer it or at least try to, I also enjoy the discussions with others from other clans when we (the community) are trying to verify certain things involving Clan XP and such. There are a lot of people that help out in the Clan Discussions Forum.

AR: What drives you to be so helpful in the Support Section?

OHM: When I have a question I truly appreciate when someone can answer it for me that way I don't have to wonder about it in any way. So among the other reason that I have previously listed giving someone peace of mind or at least an understanding helps those looking for answers. I have seen more and more people helping each other which when sharing information makes more and more people able to answer questions.

Above and Beyond #3 - Matuzz

Welcome to the third Above and Beyond Support Spotlight from Activision Rewards!

d20140130-001_CS_Forum_Badges_SUPPORT_SPOTLIGHT.jpg

Above and Beyond showcases Support Community members who are incredibly helpful in the Activision Support Forums, have earned a ton of Points and Badges, climbed the top of the Rewards Leaderboards, and more!

Above and Beyond Support Spotlight’s are chosen by the Activision Rewards team and are given an awesome Rewards Care Package from us including a custom Activision Rewards Badge (pictured above), Rewards Points, and more. Want to be the next Support Spotlight? Email us why you should be next: activisionrewards@activision.com.

This week, we’re talking to a familiar face from the Forums, Matuzz.  Most of you probably recognize him from his awesome help in the Support section. Learn more about Matuzz below and find out what makes him such a valued member of the Support Community!

matti.jpg

Activision Rewards: Tell us a little about yourself and how you got into Call of Duty?

Matuzz: My actual name is Matti and I'm from Finland.  As of now I'm studying business economics. On my past time I hang out with friends and I occasionally go hunting. I got into Call of Duty when I got Call of Duty for PC from my cousin. I thought it was the greatest game ever and have since then got most of my FPS craving from the Call of Duty series.

I love the classic Call of Duty single player modes. My all-time favorite mission is from Call of Duty (1) where you attack Stalingrad and you are just given a clip of ammunition at the start. The best multiplayer experiences I have gotten from the Black Ops and I also got instantly hooked on the zombies mode in the World at War.

Stalingrad_Soviets_running_CoD1.jpg

AR: You have an extensive history in the Forums! How long have you been a part of the CoD Community?

MZ: I joined the forums when the Modern Warfare 2 was revealed. But I got more involved with the Forums with the reveal of Black Ops. I have gotten many friends from the Off Topic section. The member I kind of followed in to the depths of OT was ficko88 who always liked my ideas. Later on though I found out that the guy liked everything.

I'm part of OT group called VuVú. We are playing together all sorts of games and chatting with each other. JediMaster Shark, Byzantine Bomb, CraftyShot, Kamchakka, MajorRodriguez, GoNavy_09, When in Doubt C4 and many many more, these are the folks that really were the life of "teh OT".

Vive la VuVú

AR: You’re very knowledgeable about Call of Duty. How would you recommend a newcomer build up that expert amount of knowledge?

MZ: All I can say is play the game and read the Forum. You will constantly find out and learn new things as you play. Spending time on this Forum and discussing things with other gamers will also give them huge amount of new information about Ghosts and Call of Duty in general. There is ton of high quality content posted so I suggest the newcomers to search through the Forums and ask about things on their mind as there will be a lot of people out there loving to help them out.

Call-of-Duty-Black-Ops-II-Gets-First-Details-About-Multiplayer-and-Zombies-Mode-2.jpg

AR: Since the Activision Rewards program started, you've consistently been at the top of the Leaderboards having earned more than 35,000 Points. How do you do it?

MZ: The Support section is the way to go if you want to rack up points. Help people the best way you can and you will be rewarded. Answer questions and make guides and soon enough you notice you have gotten a nice collection of Badges and Points to your name.

AR: Out of the Rewards Badges you’ve earned, which is your favorite?

MZ: I have to say it is the Forum Master Badge as it is something that not many have and a nice recognition for the time I have spent in here. The Support Spotlight Badge will of course be right up there with the Forum Master badge!

AR: Have you written any Guides, Walkthroughs, or FAQs for the Community in addition to your Call of Duty App Guide?

MZ: I have done info threads about the upcoming Call of Duty games by gathering all the information out there in the same place for many of the games. One of them even got into the Shacknews, which was a nice surprise. I have also done guide about the story of the Treyarch Zombie's Mode and Call of Duty App Guide.

AR: What drives you to be so helpful in the Support Forums?

MZ: I have always liked being on the Forums and generally like to help people and write guides. It is very rewarding to know that you made someone's day maybe a bit better by helping them with their problem. The Activision Rewards program that has now launched is also a nice bonus.
