my biggest problem is quittiers and host migration EVERY. SINGLE. GAME. last night i was playing with 3 friends, so 4 of us in a game, we were winning our HQ game like 220-0, completly rolling them, of course they quit, and it goes into host migration, me and 1 friend get booted to home screen, 2 others say they are still in game, we quickly join their game in progress, and once we join, realize its 2 v 2 and its at the goddamn end game screen. the 2 of us that got booted and the 2 that were still in there, of course it gave my 2 friends who didnt get booted got the win, and while i was like +15 in KD, i had to rejoin and showed us to at 0-0, but got credited with a loss, even though we joined at the end scoreboard screen....stupid ass game
The reason they don't have more playlists available is that Treyarch/Activision are afraid of fragmenting the community too much. If you look at player counts in any list, some are already ridiculously low most of the time (a few thousand at a time, or even less during off-peak hours). If they offered up a Mercenary list for every game mode, many would only have 50 or so active lobbies at a time, with players spread out across the globe, and in some it would be impossible to even find a game. Plus whatever players they did have in those new lists would be coming out of the current ones, making for even longer waits for people in parties.
I'd love to have a Domination-only mercenary list, but it's just not going to happen.
At the very least, give players the option to avoid matches in progress if they want. Turn it off by default if you want, but give players that choice. Afterall, many of us already leave matches in progress if we're thrown into it, especially if it's a late match.
Thinking about it from a logical perspective, it makes more sense doing it this way. If you think about it, the player who doesn't care about his W/L is going to continue to back out regardless of whether he gets a loss or not. What this means is that the team that is down 1 player, is going to continue to remain down 1 player. You aren't hurting the player who has to keep leaving. Sure, it's a minor inconvenience for him, but ultimately you're hurting the team you keep trying to put him on.
By giving players a choice, it means that the people who DO join a match in progress won't care about that, and are going to be far less likely to leave. This benefits everyone involved:
- The player who doesn't want to join a match in progress doesn't have to
- The team who is down a player gets one that will stay
- The other team gets another player to try to kill
It's win-win for everyone.
