Id say play like core Domination/Hardpoint/Headquarters etc, something with an objective where you can find a lot of enemies.First off let me say that I absolutely love this gun. Youre going to have to live with a few times per game where shots just miss for no reason other than bad hit detection, it happens. That being said, if you can have good aim this gun wrecks people and is a blast to use.The class setup I would suggest, and the one that I run in the video is....-Flak Jacket-Toughness These two perks IMO are a must, you need to be able to survive explosions and toughness is a must on any class in core but especially single shot weapons.-Tac Mask (Having Flak and Tac Mask allow you to move around in CQC situations and not really be effected by lethals or tacticals)-KSG w/ Red Dot, Long Barrel, and a third attachment of your choice, I prefer either Laser sight or quickdraw. Obviously you'd be using primary gunfighter. Red Dot sight IMO really helps with some of the longer shots, especially if a guy is headglitching, usually I wont waste a spot on a sight but in this case I would.-Kap 40 w/ext mags. Having a full auto secondary will help you out immensely if you run into more than 2 enemies at once.I run Hellstorm, Lightning Strike, VSAT but would recommend UAV, Hunter Killer, CUAV.Hope all this helps out, the video above is to show you how to engage with the KSG. Unlike other shotguns, you actually want to keep some breathing room between you and the enemy. Round corners wide and hug cover whenever possible. Take notice the distance at which I engage most of the enemies and how the RDS helps. I believe in this game alone I had 3 or 4 bloodthirstys. Keeping the enemies at a distance like I do in the video is helpful because you take away the R870, S12, and M1216 advantages. It can also help you vs enemies with pistols. The range on this thing is just sick if you use Long Barrel and combine it with RDS. I think a couple times in the clip I take out people from way further than a shotgun should.
I didn't play for long yesterday, but after reading the first 3 posts, and watching the video posted, I managed to get 8 bloodthirsty's in 6 games. I played a couple rounds of combat training first to get used the KSG again and then went right into Hardpoint and a couple FFA games. Thanks guys ! Everybody's comments helped out !
my set up was
ksg- long barrel, red dot
perk 1- hardline
perk 2- cold blooded
perk 3- engineer and dexterity
tactical- emp x2
scorestreaks- uav, hunter killer, care package
you're going to have to take some long shots stay away from the cqb due to the slow cyclic rate of it. i found that playing hardcore dom was the easiest way to get it. it took me about 4-5 hrs gameplay to get all 10.
In my experience, I don't find the long barrell helps much with the KSG. I've actually had some good success with it in a stealth class. Ghost, Lightweight, Toughness, Dexteirty then attach stock and silencer. Surprisingly the silencer doesn't have much of an impact on the range (Drift0r stated thiis in his video on the KSG as well). The stock helps you move faster while ADS and round corners better. Run simplke streaks like UAV, HK and CUAV.
Also like others said, if you are playing in core, toughness is a must because if you miss that first shot due to flinch, you will likely be dead.
Here is my suggested setup and I think I completed it on a similar setup myself.
KSG- Longbarrel + RDS
Perk 1: Flak Jacket
Perk 2: Toughness
Perk 3: Tac Mask
Secondary: B23R/Kap 40 up to preference + Whatever attachment you want.
Tactical: Tac Insert
The Tac Insert is so that you stay in your affective range in whatever map you are on. Migrating between spots won't be your friend, best to run routes in a given area with this weapon. The pistol is for backup just incase you are in a situation of reloading and a nearby enemy. You can still get the Bloodthirsty if you get a kill with another weapon so long as you get 5 kills with the KSG in one life. So don't worry about that, it's more important to stay alive and have a better chance at killing someoen else later. Same goes for the C4, KSG isn't really meant for more than a 1v1 situation so when needed throw the brick and stay alive.
All of the perks are built around staying alive and maintaining your aim, which are critical to your success of this challenge. I hope this helps as it surely was helpful for me completing this challenge.
I really like the KSG and when working on the gold I used one of the following combos:
1. Long barrel and reflex (used Diamond reticle)
2. Quick draw and silencer
Perks: I always run Scavenger so Perk 2 Greed with Toughness. With LB used Hardline and Dexterity. With silencer Lightweight and Extreme Conditioning.
I always forget the range you get with Long Barrel and the KSG if I haven't used it in a while; one side of the bridge to the other on Turbine type thing or balcony to hot tub on Hijacked (I remember these specifically).
The Silenced kit is great for flanking and blood thirsty(s)- if you have quick reactions and decent aim you will knock them out in no time.
Good luck- once you get the rhythm this is a great gun. It fires meteors and wreaks havoc!
I got stuck on this challenge for a long time and only went back to it when it was the only thing between me and diamond shotties. I agree with the others here that red dot sight goes on, for me that's a definite. The other attachment(s) are to taste, after trying with a few, the silencer got the job done more quickly than I was expecting. Flak jacket and Tac mask highly recommended.
Secondary weapons and grenades are less important to me when focusing on bloodthirsties, so stock up on more perks or attachments.
Objective game modes in Core recommended, due to predictability of where opponents will be, and hardcore reduces the advantage of one hit kill weapons.
As someone who started a very similar thread on Saturday when I was only seven bloodthirsties away, I'll give you the setup that was combined from a few people that ended up working for me.
For attachments I used quickdraw and milimeter scanner. I ran lightweight and ghost, cold blooded (a must for me, since they don't get the name above you that way), and engineer.
I also ran with overkill and a skorpion, so should I miss and was in tight quarters I could switch over to it, get the kill to get myself out of a bad situation, and keep my killstreak going with the KSG.
I just finished it last night and got my diamond camos. Easily the most difficult weapon I've used thus far (don't mess with snipers that much and haven't touched the riot shield), but it was a very satisfying feeling to finally get it done.
Good luck on your quest.
