I would rather them add barebones back into the mix.

I played Barebones a fair bit before BO2 but I'm not sure how it would fit into the game outside of TDM and FFA due to the scoring system.

    Streak spam... consider this:

Pre-MW2... at one time, you could face mulitple UAVs (but it was 100% counterable), 1 airstrike/artillery, 1 chopper or dogs.

BO2... at one time you could face multiple UAV, multiple CUAV, VSAT, Hellstorm, Lightning Strike, multiple sentry guns, multiple guardians, AGR, dogs, and a combination of up to 2 (?) close air support (Stealth Chopper, Escort Drone, Warthog, Loadstar).

Both are worst case but you get the point...

... too much of an emphasis on streaks and streak spam.

Last night on BO2 in a match, I had 2 sentries a UAV and an AGR. Other players had UAVs, a stealth chopper, a guardian... these were all up at the same time.

There are limits to Guardians and Sentry Guns that can be deployed at any one time though.  I think you can only have three of these on the map.  I was surprised that I can have a Stealth Chopper and an Escort Drone up at the same time.  I wonder how much extra lag these streaks create.  It's why I've barely played Ground War except with COD4 where it became a favourite game mode.

But yes, MW2 did help with the extra emphasis on streaks.  My matches tend to be a bit quiet for streaks but I mainly play TDM.  The most used streak in my games is the CP so I guess people have given up on trying to earn higher streaks organically.

TDM is much harder to get higher streaks...

... the spam of streaks in KC at times is cuckoo. And I fully believe a lot of the lag we see in the game is a result of too many active streaks at one time.

I agree. COD is more about getting to that next killstreak and less about the actual game. It causes the vast majority of camping and "kill farming" in objective modes. The killstreak system has become beyond broken. They need to break it down and start over.

Killstreaks/Scorestreaks  have promoted more camping, boosting, rage quitting and lack of objective play.

I see no real need for them, other than the 3,5 and 7 of old.

    '#1 all time for support'

HardHat, is that you? Or am I thinking of someone else?

Are you talking about the actual act of going on a streak or the bonuses rewarded for it? In either case, I think things are fine as they are--a bonus for scoring x number of points without dying has a sort of arcade feel to it, and I like that. Sure, they'll probably alienate the purists by keeping things as they are now, but they have to try to innovate to keep things fresh or get left behind.

I for one think they got it right this time, which totally surprised me, considering I thought MW3 was a failure.

My latest idea is to just double the required points and give them as support instead of streaks, like the MW3 support where they don't reset when you die. Then everyone will rush for them instead of camping for them.

It's about the proliferation of streaks and their over emphasis. It's not about being a purist rather how this emphasis has impacted gameplay... even map design.

Again, take this as an example:

Pre-MW2... at one time, you could face mulitple UAVs (but it was 100% counterable), 1 airstrike/artillery, 1 chopper or dogs.
BO2... at one time you could face multiple UAV, multiple CUAV, VSAT, Hellstorm, Lightning Strike, multiple sentry guns, multiple guardians, AGR, dogs, and a combination of up to 2 (?) close air support (Stealth Chopper, Escort Drone, Warthog, Loadstar).

When you are playing BO2, you have to think more about how to counter/avoid/destroy streaks than you do countering your opponents tactics. Streaks are simply overemphasized.

The game will lag more because of streaks.  Played Barebones in MW3 and it ran a lot smoother than Ground War.  I agree with TDM being hard for high end streaks.  Normally I'm never bothered about not having high end streaks being selected but when I get the required gun kills it does kinda suck to "[Let's] have a look at what you could have won" (Bullseye reference, British game show).  None of the streaks except Sentry Gun onwards really interest me, except the annoying Hunter Killer Drone if I don't have EMP grenades or Black Hat PDAs available because of prestigeing.

KC does depend.  Haven't played it much because I'm normally a heavy gunner so mobility is an issue and I don't want to impede myself as that may not be as productive for winning the match.  I have still topped leaderboards when using an LMG though.
