Because the game for the PS3 is still in beta.

Because microsoft is trying to make up for their failed gaming system.

Nah - It is because MS pays Activision loads of money, and so the game gets developed for the Xbox (a 3 core CPU). The PS3 is an afterthought in some senses, it is a 7 core CPU.

So naturally the game has been designed and implemented primarily for the Xbox. Now when Treyarch come to port it for the PS3, they are going to experience issues with their software implementation due to multithreaded issues, as there is an additional 4 cores in the mix. Hence the PS3 suffers from hard lockups due to their implementation.

Obviously they never experienced the hard lockups during their alpha testing, and thus the optimal time window to go address/fix their fundamental design issues has passed. It got all the way to release without being detected. They've appeared to fix the very easy to reproduce problems, but the hardest problem for them to fix is what is known as a timing issue and when this occurs then things screw up. Looks like they've not been able to reproduce this, or identify precisely what it it is, and thus it remains unfixed.

BUT the shame is, rather than Treyarch stating that they are still working on it (which nobody knows), everyone in the PS3 community including myself start coming to conclusions, rightly or wrongly and it is unfortunately damaging this franchise. Which equates to lost sales long term.

It's called a legally binding document. There's no way around it. Sony could careless about Call of Duty. If you want to be angry at someone blame Sony for passing on first dibs at this exclusivity
