What are the different challenges I can play?

Heroic Challenge: Placing a Skylander on the portal will unlock its Heroic Challenge. This is a timed challenge that will reward any Skylander who completes it with a stat bonus. The 24 reposed Skylanders will unlock their challenges, plus 16 for the new Giants and Skylanders. There are now also 6 Heroic Challenges that can be bought in the Auric Store. The Heroic Challenges are accessible by talking to Cali in the Hub - The Dreadyacht. The user has to be the owner of the toys in order to unlock their Heroic Challenges.

Arena Challenge: This is a new addition in Giants. There are a total of 21 arenas with waves of enemies. Each set of 7 Arenas will reward the user with Lucky Charms. These Arena Challenges are accessible by talking to Brook in the Hub – The Dreadyacht.

One of my Skylanders is broken and I got an error message when I put it on the Portal of Power. What do I do?

Be sure to ask a parent or guardian for help.

If you are getting an error that says “A toy on the Portal of Power has a problem”, follow these steps to recover your broken toy.

1. Keep the broken Skylander on the Portal of Power and open the Pause Menu

2. Return to the Main Menu

3. Open Settings

4. Select General

5. Select Reset Broken Toys

3.png

6. Select Yes when you are asked to reset the Skylander

7. Repeat Steps 5 and 6 (this is important!)

8. Keep the Skylander that was reset on the Portal of Power and start a game in Story Mode

Your Skylander will now work again!

If the screen turns black after returning to the game, it probably means you didn't repeat Steps 5 and 6 above. We told you it was important!

If the game won't load and you are only seeing an Elemental icon on the screen, remove the Skylander from the Portal of Power, put it back on the portal, and retry Steps 1 through 8 above.

Be sure to ask a parent or guardian for help.

If your Portal of Power is not syncing with your console or computer, it may be as simple as your batteries being low. Try replacing the batteries in the Portal of Power

My friend has a different console, and he has Skylanders Giants. Can I still use my Skylanders from Spyro's Adventure to play with him?

In some cases, yes. The Series 2 characters (the ones from Spyro's Adventure that have been redesigned for Giants) can be played on both Spyro's Adventure and Giants!

Here's a list of the Series 2 characters that will work on both games:

Water

Slam Bam

Zap

Gill Grunt

Tech

Drill Sergeant

Drobot

Trigger Happy

Earth

Bash

Prism Break

Terrafin

Magic

Spyro

Double Trouble

Wrecking Ball

Fire

Ignitor

Flameslinger

Eruptor

Undead

Hex

Cynder

Chop Chop

Life

Stump Smash

Zook

Stealth Elf

Air

Whirlwind

Sonic Boom

Lightning Rod

You can play on different gaming consoles, too! This means that a Skylander can start leveling up on a Wii, and then go help another Portal Master on Xbox 360, then play on a PlayStation 3 or even a 3DS. This works no matter what console is used!

You can also use Giants to play Skylanders Universe!

If a Skylander reaches a level higher than 10, it will be level 10 in Spyro’s Adventure.  If a Series 2 character unlocks their Wow Pow ability in Giants, please note that it will not be available in Spyro’s Adventure.

What are the different game modes?

There are two different game modes in Skylanders Giants:

Adventure Mode: The Adventure Mode is the main part of the game, with a total of 16 levels playable in either single and co-op.

Battle Mode: There are four different player vs. player (PvP) battle modes that are playable in 17 different arenas. Some of them are accessible from the beginning while other are bought in the Auric Stores in a specific level of the Adventure Mode. The Battle Mode is accessible in the Main Menu. Two controllers must be connected in order to play PvP.

What are Elemental Strength Zones?

Some areas in Skylands have a stronger connection with an element. This makes all Skylanders of that element stronger in that area.

When your Skylander is in an Elemental Strength Zone, it will

  • get a bonus to damage
  • gain more experience
  • collect more treasures and food

Eon will tell the player each time an Elemental Strength Zone is reached, and an animation can also be seen around the screen when entering such a zone. The Elemental Power of a Skylander will affect the damage bonus it gets.

This can be caused by corrupted save data on the Skylander's Champion.

To avoid this in the future, please make sure to do the following:

  • Do not place the portal on a metal surface
  • Do not use the portal near other wireless devices

My Portal Doesn't Turn On

Posted by ActivisionCS Nov 16, 2012

My portal of power does not turn on at all. None of the lights on the Portal come on. How can I fix this?

Be sure to ask a parent or guardian for help.

Try the following solutions to fix this issue:

  1. This may be due to weak or dead batteries. Try replacing the batteries in the Portal of Power. Make sure to resync the Portal after doing so.
  2. Check to make sure that the wireless receiver is working. Look at the front of the receiver and check to make sure that you can see the red light. You may need to push the button on the front tip of the receiver to get it to come on.
  3. Try placing the receiver in a different USB port. If the Portal of Power and receiver work when the receiver is plugged into a different USB port then it's likely that you have a bad USB port and will need to have your console or computer serviced.

If replacing the batteries and re-syncing the Portal of Power does not fix the issue but the receiver lights up, then you will need to get the Portal of Power replaced.

If you were able to get the Portal of Power to turn on but the receiver never comes on, you will need to get the receiver replaced.

If after trying all troubleshooting options you find that your portal is still non-functional, you can request a replacement portal by going to http://warranty.activision.com.

There is a "dead spot" on my Portal where my Champion will not register. How can I fix this?

Likely Cause:

The dead spot may have happened if your Portal of Power didn’t synch correctly to your console. The dead spot could also be from damage to your Skylander Champion or your Portal of Power.

To eliminate the dead spot, try these tips:

  1. Restart the console and Portal of Power.
  2. Put new batteries in the Portal of Power and try your Skylander Champion on the dead spot again.

    1.jpeg
  3. Make sure there is nothing in between the Portal of Power and USB Wireless Reciever. Then try your Skylander Champion on the dead spot again.
  4. Check all of your Skylander Champions and items by placing them one at a time on the dead spot.
